Top Chef testimonial: Jérémie Izarn's take on the new challenges in cooking

The French are increasingly interested in food, the origin of products, how they are processed, cooking and gastronomy. The TV show Top Chef, and the careers of its winners, give us a good insight into these new issues linked to cooking and eating. Jérémie Izarn testifies.

The growing number of TV shows, magazines, blogs and social media accounts devoted to food, the scale of food scandals, the double-digit growth in sales of organic produce... all bear witness to the fact that our relationship with food has changed. The contents of our plates now occupy a central place in our daily concerns.

The success of the Top Chef cooking competition illustrates this point. On April 19, 2017, the season 8 finale drew an audience of over 3 million viewers.

Former contestant and this season's winner Jérémie Izarn was interviewed by our partner Finarome. The chef gives an interesting account of his experience in the adventure and his daily life as a restaurateur who defends a cuisine "close to nature", using local and seasonal produce.
